I
have found Newcastle to be a centre with a lot to offer in many areas.
If its city life you are after you won't be disappointed.
Newcastle boasts an active Quayside and a bustling city centre by
day with its shopping and cafes or by night, with its many pubs
and busy discos. Having 2 Universities, there is also an active
student life.
Culturally, there is always something to check out,
many galleries, theatre, musicals, major rock and pop stars, ballet
and symphony.
Catching Newcastle United at a soccer match is a must,
but there is also rugby and even an ice hockey team.
There are historical attractions,
like the Roman's Hadrian's Wall (which either starts or ends at
Newcastle, depending on your point of view) and the nearby Lindisfarne
Castle on Holy Island.

For the outdoors lover, Newcastle is to many Britain's
best offering. The Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Pennine Way,
Northumberland National Park - all are within easy access.
And finally, Newcastle is also a hub for further travel.
Only 90 minutes by train could find you listening to bagpipes in
Edinburgh. A direct flight from Newcastle to Dublin could see you
tasting the real Guinness. Even ferries to Holland and Norway leave
regularly from the Tyne River upon whose Northern shore Newcastle
nestles.
All that and I've only been here for six weeks.
