Travel Insurance
Make sure you have adequate cover for yourself and your possessions - especially whilst travelling. Check that your policy covers you for travel and work whilst overseas.

International Drivers Licence

Before you leave home you can apply for an International Drivers Licence from your local motorist organisation.

Car Insurance

Request a no claims letter from your car insurance company before you leave home. Car insurance is very expensive in the UK and you will receive a discount with this letter.

References from Previous Landlords

If you are going to rent in the UK (which most people do if they are staying longer term) please make sure you obtain references from your previous landlords. This will make it a lot easier if you decide to sign a tenancy agreement.

Photocopy all documentation

Make sure that you take copies of all documentation including your passport, visa, travellers' cheque receipts, flight tickets, insurance documents, credit cards. Keep a copy safe with someone at home as well as keep a copy yourself where they can be found in case of an emergency.

Banking Credit Reference Letter

Obtain a banking credit reference letter from your bank as well as 3 months recent bank statements as this will assist you to open a bank account in the UK
